If you remember when you started playing golf, your instructor emphasized the basic fundamentals. These fundamentals if sound can lead to a lifetime of great golf. If any of the basics are ignored, your overall game is affected.
For example, when you address the ball you were taught to bend from the hip sockets not your waist. This angle in your spine allows you to turn away from the ball and through towards the ball on the correct plane. If you bend from the waist, your turning motion is more difficult and you will most likely lift up out of your posture to get the club to the top of the swing. This lifting up and down can cause you to miss or top the ball when you swing. We certainly do not want to do this every swing.
The next time you go to the course or range, check to be sure you are bendiing from the hips rather than the waist so you can turn rather than lift.
If you are not sure if you are doing this properly seek out your local LPGA professional for a lesson on the fundamentals, this will not hurt any level golfer!
